Liferaft and lifeboat servicing providers carry out the periodic inspection, load testing, and recertification of a vessel's survival craft required to keep them valid under SOLAS — annual liferaft servicing at an approved service station, lifeboat and davit annual inspection and periodic load testing, on-load release gear overhaul, and davit winch and wire examination.
This is a servicing and certification service rather than a supply of new craft, distinct from the lifeboat, davit, and liferaft suppliers whose equipment these stations service. Approved service stations open, inspect, and repack liferafts, test hydrostatic release units, and issue a service certificate recording the work carried out and next-due date; lifeboat and davit servicing follows a similar fixed inspection and load-testing interval. Because survival craft cannot remain certified without servicing at an approved station, buyers schedule work around each craft's due date and the availability of a station at the vessel's port of call, comparing providers on certification and turnaround. It sits within the Safety, Fire & Life-Saving category group on PortProcure.
PortProcure lists 21 verified Liferaft & Lifeboat Servicing suppliers across 18 ports, including Balboa, Callao, and Casablanca. Send an RFQ to compare quotes from listed suppliers.

How often must liferafts and lifeboats be serviced?+
Inflatable liferafts are serviced annually at an approved station, while lifeboats and davits get an annual inspection with a load test at longer set intervals, and on-load release gear is overhauled on its own schedule. Each item carries a next-due date, so operators track them separately and book servicing before the earliest one lapses rather than as a single fleet exercise.
Why must liferaft servicing happen at an approved station?+
A liferaft can only be recertified by a station approved for that make of raft, because servicing means unpacking and inflating it, inspecting the fabric and the hydrostatic release, then repacking it to the maker's procedure. The station issues the certificate with the next-due date the vessel needs for survey, which is why buyers choose a station by its approvals and location, not cost alone.
How do operators plan servicing around the vessel's schedule?+
Because a raft or lifeboat must reach an approved station on or before its due date, operators line servicing up with a port call where a suitable station can collect and return the unit inside the port stay, or swap in a certified replacement raft. Turnaround time therefore weighs as heavily as price when the vessel is only alongside briefly.
